Exploring Alfie Kungu's painterly hyper-coloured, bubble gum world
We’ve got an obsession, a penchant for bright colour. It drives us bananas in the best way possible (no surprises, just look at our socks). So when we tripped across young UK artist Alfie Kungu’s playful, bright artwork, our jimmies got pretty well rustled.
Coming out of Bristol and only 23 years old, Alfie’s works are characterised by a power pack of hyper-coloured brush strokes, chunky textures and positive vibes. He sets familiar cultural motifs against a vivid combination of brights and pastels. His work is usually abstract, skipping across the drawing and painting disciplines....

Beautifully experimental and imperfect ceramics by Jessica Hans
Jessica Hans is a ceramic artist wrangling clay in ways we have never seen before. Working out of her studio in Philadelphia, she works at creating vessels which are, frankly, the opposite of what most ceramicists are aiming for. Instead of even, perfect curves and clean glazes, Jessica’s pots, planters and cups err on the side of the raw, lopsided, unconventionally textured and misshapen. They’re beautiful in their imperfections and tasty tactility, and we can’t get enough.
Her experimental approach to ceramics is rooted in her background in interdisciplinary art and textile design. Jessica was...
Refreshing, imaginative collages and jewellery by Holly Leonardson
There is a special place in our hearts for the kind of work that takes us back to being a kid. Getting out the boxes of crayons, paint, plastic scissors and glitter and running them over sheets and sheets of paper with reckless abandon. Or doodling all over your mum’s lists with felt tip markers and making collages out of the junk mail catalogues. Ah wow. We can almost smell the Clag Glue!
Holly Leonardson is a visual artist whose work transports us with these special feelings. After stints in Brisbane, Tasmania and Melbourne over...
Max Lamb: unconventional, experimental design with honest materials
British designer Max Lamb is a modern day craftsman. Working out of his studio in North London, Max is highly sought after for his highly unusual approaches to design. Max straddles the terms designer, maker and artist. Skipping across the commercial design and art worlds, his work bounces from exhibitions throughout Europe to some of the...
