History Lesson - Ray Eames

History Lesson - Ray Eames

Ok, so if we were going to sit down and chat about design royalty that we absolutely froth hardcore over Charles and Ray Eames would be one of the first names tumbling out of our little excited mouths. Right now though, we wanna have a round of applause for Ray Eames, the diminutive, energetic, witty woman who equally drove Eames Design and created a whole new look for furniture.

Briefly, if you haven’t heard of Eames you may have been living under a rock but you have definitely seen their work and influence. Dubbed...

Dog Milk is fuelling our dog obsession

Dog Milk is fuelling our dog obsession

So here at Odd Pears we like dogs. Not just a little bit either, we like them a lot. Sometimes we get a little out of control at coffee shops and people give us ‘the eyes’, you know the ones, oozing judgement and slightly tinged with the fear that you might try to snag their dog. Prior to enrolling in the school, she first studied decorative painting, glass painting, ceramics, art history and style at a school of applied arts in Munich.

Gunta joined the Bauhaus as a student in 1920, became a junior master in 1927 and was appointed the school’s first...

Amanda Jasnowski - chasing light, form and fun

Amanda Jasnowski - chasing light, form and fun

On her website, Amanda Jasnowski states that she’s a “firm believer of fun, the therapeutic power of art and never taking yourself too seriously”. After already falling head over heels for her photographs, we think we just fell twice as hard.

Now known online as @hokaytokay, Amanda was born in Spain, raised in Ohio and is currently based in Brooklyn, New York. She started taking photos as an angsty, frustrated teen in Ohio. Photographing a few willing friends was her relief from the otherwise pretty dry creative playing field and the beginning of “it...
