Ellie King, aka Rittle, is a Melbourne based artist, specialising in textiles, ceramics and design. We’ve been crushing on her work for a couple of years now, catching her iconic Rittle face on many a hand made object. From her studio, she’s pumped out hand screen printed tee’s, cheeky cushions, scented candles in the porcelain ceramics, and even sold the old second hand collectable. Her penchant for embroidery and textile-based works developed while running a cafe in Melbourne CBD a few years ago, using the hand-made processes to clock-off and relax.
Ellie draws inspiration from old cartoons, found typography and modern art masters like Picasso. Her objects and apparel is peppered with the likes of goofy smiles, moody faces, cats, dolphins and snakes. Combine these elements with naive lines, an immense dollop of humour and super skills, checking out her work becomes a really good time.
