Melting, psychedelic patterns and surface design from Catalina Velásquez G

Catalina Velásquez G is a London-based design student whose obsessions with bright colours, botanical gardens and festivals shine right through in her work. After completing her Bachelor of Design at the University of Los Andes in 2012, she is currently studying at Central Saint Martins to smash out her Masters in Communication Design.

Catalina skips across the realms of graphic design, art direction, illustration and visual communication in her work like it’s no thang. Her penchant for making patterns and surface design blazes through in her folio, which is kind of like looking into a sun on a hot summers day. It’s like watching the pastels and brights of a rainbow Paddle Pop melt together and run down your arm, or psychedelic sprinkles atop a sweet donut. We’re not the only ones who thing so either, with one of her designs being picked up by folk rock star Father John Misty (previously of Fleet Foxes fame) for his record cover last year. Nice one, Catalina!
