Luke Pelletier’s work is immediately striking on the eyes. His choice of vibrant colours, composition and intriguing subject matter makes us longing for more. Living in the tourist hotspot of Los Angeles for a good portion of his life, he has been heavily influenced by the seasonal economies, multi-level relationships, dependence and resentment, between tourists and locals.
Much of Luke’s art blurs the lines between celebrating and condemning a culture that agrees to be taken advantage of while it takes advantage of others. His art is filled with personal anecdotes, dark humour, romance, contradictions, objectifications, capitalism, free will, addiction, and scenes of paradise that are both pristine and slowly decaying.
Luke Pelletier draws inspiration from the world around him but is also drawn to this idea to create his own constructed paradise, places where every detail seems considered. There are hints of this in most of his artworks which at time bring moments of nostalgia. Themes of classic Americana, sex, holidays, amusement parks, the 80's, tattoo flash, monster trucks and animals all tie together to create tasteful pieces of artwork.
Luke’s artworks are full of energy, humour and a variety of subject matter to wet anyones whistle. Passionate and dedicated, Luke has real talent which we are sure to keep an eye on.
