Jungle parties and mysterious creatures in the world of Min Pin

Min Pin sure knows how to knock together a fantasy land fit for our dreams. Jungle parties, sad astronauts and chunky tigers nestle together within green wonderlands, overflowing with cheeky furry friends. A place where pastel snakes hang out with disgruntled stegosaurus and mysterious planets with eyes oogle from the forest floor. We’re not sure what she calls this universe, but we’re pretty sure we want to move in ASAP.

Min Pin is a label run by Melbourne-based creative Penny Min Ferguson. Since it’s humble roots starting up in 2013, Penny has created a label that is stocked internationally, exhibited nationwide and published in many-a reputable publication around the globe. And just when we thought Penny couldn’t possibly get anymore talented, we discovered that she also co-runs a podcast called Wowee!, where honest, casual chats are had with amazing creatives (like Cat Rabbit and Ashley Ronning!) about their work and life.

Working from her studio in the green, fern-filled Dandenong Ranges, Penny’s created a whole world for her characters that inhabit her acrylic and watercolour paintings, ceramics, textiles, jewellery and books. Her repeat patterns of doggos and little weirdo faces that make us go ‘woah!’. She sells her works in her own brand’s online store, and her illustrations also adorn the textiles for cool kids label Halcyon Nights. From workshops with the NGV, to children’s activity spaces for The Big Design Market and collaborations with The Design Files we’re not surprised that Penny’s brand has reached such great, inspiring heights.
