Bianca Mavrick is a Brisbane-based contemporary jeweller with skills so fresh she’s making all the minimalists go maximalist right now. Since the launch of her self titled label in 2013, Bianca has been at the helm of it all, smashing out collection after beautiful collection of chandeliers for your ears. Her pieces have become instantly recognisable with her use of bold, dynamic forms and unexpected colour combinations. Stocked by the likes of Monkhouse Design, Modern Times, Craft Victoria and even the NGV (!), we thought it was about time we dedicated some solid words of appreciation to Bianca and her inspirational practice.
Bianca describes her work as site-specific sculptures for the body, exploring self expression and our shared visual language. She’s a trained jeweller with a bachelor in Fine Art, and uses precious metals, stones and plastics combined with industrial processes and inspirations. Each piece is also individually cast and polished, resulting in a distinct and instantly recognisable finish. Her use of bright colours and visually punchy forms gives us a super summery vibe — must be all that sun and blue skies goin’ down in tropical Queensland!
Her colourful architecture for your ears can now be placed on your feet too, thanks to a brand new collaboration with super cool and powerful Melbourne shoe purveyors, Radical Yes. Their SS17 collection ‘Regarding Strength and Beauty’ sees a brand new shoe silhouette launched with a limited edition resin addition from Bianca. The new sneaker features a magical half-moon resin piece to thread through the laces and adorn your feet. Their kinda like a mystic talisman for your shoes, guaranteeing gladness and radness!
