We first discovered the fine works of Ariel Kellogg at the beginning of 2018 thanks to a very good friend indeed. Her website describes her as an artist and jewellery maker from Western New York, currently residing in St. Augustine, Florida. Fusing her background as an artist with her current business, Kellogg’s pieces are better off being considered “wearable art”. Bright, colourful, and fun, the jewellery seems to take on a life of it’s own, certainly in a world of it’s own, and seemingly begs potential buyers to be worn and loved. Often the Jewellery world has a bad habit of taking itself too seriously and therefore falling into the category of being another creator of dull, lifeless metal. Not the case with Kellogg’s work. In fact, it’s completely the opposite.
We love colour, fun and designers with a sense of individuality and a point of difference. That being said, these pieces are still artfully and carefully made, as Kellogg says, “with lots of love, energy and intention”. With most of the work retailing for between $30 - $40 USD you can easily nab yourself a hand-made, carefully constructed piece of wearable art for a great price, while supporting a young, talented artist at the same time.
