Nicholas Anderson and Julie Ho are Confetti System a couple of New York-based cult crafters working as artists, stylists and designers. Since their inception seven years ago, the duo have set the standard for trail-blazing craft stars with their line of custom made festive objects and jewellery.
This ain’t no Grade Two hasty cut and paste Clag Glue situation. These guys are the real deal. Transforming simple materials like tissue paper, cardboard, leather and silk into interactive objects, they create a point of focus where memories are made and nostalgia is evoked. Let us tell you, Confetti System create the kind of pinatas we couldn’t dream of lifting a bat against.
Despite all the fun, light-heartedness let it be known that Confetti System don’t make the kiddy stuff. They’ve art directed and created installations for the likes of Opening Ceremony, J. Crew, Beyonce, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, MoMA and Pop Magazine and exhibited across New York, Los Angeles, Miami, Japan and Holland!
Nick and Julie found each other in 2001, bonding over a love of communal celebration and began decorating friends’ parties. With backgrounds in set design and sculpture, it was natural for them to see their pieces in specific contexts and environments. In 2008, they launched Confetti System with their custom made pinatas, hand cut metallic foil and paper necklaces and tassel garlands. From pieces for friends to some of the biggest brands in the world, Nick and Julie have organically crafted their way to international crafting superstardom. Prior to Confetti System, this field didn’t even exist! Talk about finding a niche.
Excuse us while we sit here, close our eyes and imagine we’re in their Williamsburg studio running our fingers through silky foil and rolling around in pastel trapezoidal confetti. Hoo yes!
