What are you doing the evening of June 4? Yes that would be next Thursday. Clear out your schedules for the evening because a group of super talented RMIT students are having a show and book launch. You can bet your last art student penny at the bottom of your pocket that we’ll be there to support the next gen of super cool art kids from the Achromatopsia collective.
These guys have been meeting up since the beginning of the year, sharing studio desks and brain power to create one hell-of-a beefy comic anthology. Self titled and quite the mouthful, Achromatopsia boasts “100-ish” pages of delicious black and white, monochrome goodness from a strong, diverse selection of budding Melbourne artists. There’ll be comics from the likes of Julia Trybala, Christian Vine, Will McCraw, Joseph Lynch, Tilly Glasocodine and Chris Gooch.
As well as the beautiful publication itself, there’ll be a show of illustrative riso prints from some of our favourites like Maddy Young, Cate Gowers, Shaunna Henshall and Francis Cannon.
Art on the walls, mad comics, free beer, good vibes. Why would you miss it?
Achromatopsia opens 4 June from 6pm-8pm at The Good Copy, 27–29 Johnston St, Collingwood. If, regrettably, you can’t make it the show runs until June 18.
