Winter is edging itself into our lives slowly but surely, with a cheeky draught here and patchy bouts of rain there. We’re already fantasising about the cool change; long weekends on the couch, double layer socks and hot mugs of tea. The only thing we’re missing right now is a beautiful throw to curl up underneath, but we think we’ve already found the answer to that problem. Enter, Slowdown Studios.
Slowdown is the partnership of two mates, Sydney-based fashion designer Claire Tregoning and LA-based graphic designer Marc Hendrick. Celebrating individuality and artistry, so far they have collaborated with four of their favourite artists on beautiful limited edition blankets. Jordy Van Den Nieuwendijk, Saskia Pomeroy, Espen Friberg, Sara Plantefeve-Castryck have created colourful, bold patterned blankets in their playful, graphic styles.
These ain’t no run of the mill blankies. Each piece is made in the USA, 100% cotton and available in a very limited and exclusive run of 25. And if you think these suckers are going to be sticking around, you best be giving it a second thought. Half of the rugs available are already sold out, so if you see one that grabs your fancy lock that situation down before it slips through your clammy, art-loving fingers. We’ve been lurking around their insta lately, and spotted a sneaky peek of an upcoming collab with an Odd Pears favourite, Atelier Bingo. The anticipation for that one to drop is crippling!
Yep, winter is pretty sweet. And when summer rolls around, you can bet these blankets would be coming with us on picnic adventures.
