Oopsy, we just spent a good hour in the online world of Emily Forgot. Weaving through the pastel archways and primary coloured staircases of her wooden assemblage sculptures, getting caught up in the intuitive shapes used in her collages and the general bright, exciting vibe of her world.
Emily Forgot is the curious and apt moniker of London-based graphic artist Emily Alston. Since graduating from the Liverpool school of Art & Design in 2004, she’s carved a pretty beautiful spot for herself in the realm of freelance, and worked with some of the biggest cultural institutions, advertising, retail, publishing and editorial names there are.
Emily’s playful and exciting visual language keeps us on our toes with every project she shares, wedged in the glorious space that exists between graphic design and illustration. Not one to tie herself to any one way of thinking, she balances two and three dimensional work like it’s no big deal. Between pop up windows for Harrods and typography for the V&A, she’ll also create wooden totems for peace and ping pong bat with curious geometric cut outs.
Emily’s inspirations are a melding of the past and present and of interiors and architecture. Her ideas are driven by her own optimistic, child-like curiosity as she seeks out the oddness, the beauty, and the humour in everyday life.
