Hidden textile dream house in Brunswick, Melbourne: Home-Work

Psst, listen up! We’re about to tell you all about a hidden textile dream house in Brunswick, Melbourne that you need to know about. Home-Work is a bricks-and-mortar shop, work space and online store purveying some seriously tasty textiles. Lara Davies and Jess Wright are the masterminds and ink-pushers behind the studio, having worked side-by-side for the past 5 years designing products and teaching screen printing together. If they look a wee bit familiar to you, you may recognise their smiley faces from their days co-running Harvest Workroom a few years ago.

Covering most of the bases of your abode, Home-Work design and produce homewares, accessories, soft furnishings and stationery out of their wonderful studio. Manufacturing local is their specialty, whether digitally printing with amazing Australian companies or hand screen printing  each piece themselves you can bet that everything coming out of Home-Work is pumped out with love on home turf. There’s something to be a little bit patriotic about! They also run workshops with some of Australia’s top creatives, where you can learn dye techniques like shibori, screen printing, weaving, drawing or even just book the workspace for a day.

Lara and Jess’ obsession with colour and pattern shines through in their thoughtful and fun designs. Pencil cases, duna covers, backpacks, makeup bags, bean bags, cushions and storage tubs are all designed by these talented ladies and made to order. Bold and graphic, their products really just make our little designer hearts want to explode. Think natural, fun, organic shapes and forms mixed with geometry in dreamy pastels or statement monochromes.

Pop up to the bricks and mortar Home-Work at 7-11 Dawson St, Brunswick, Melbourne. Or, visit online! Be sure to keep up with new products and workshop announcements on Instagram too.
